If you're after something relaxing, we can easily recommend The Alto Collection.

Ultimately, though, this all feels like extra baggage that isn’t necessary to the overall experience; there’s enough here to keep you entertained for a good while just in terms of pure gameplay, and although it’s not the kind of game that incentivises repeat playthroughs, there’s always that niggling feeling at the back of the mind to have ‘just one more go’. There are a couple of minor issues, such as the fact that some obstacles get obscured and really sneak up on you, and a distinct lack of extras that we’d like to have seen in a collection like this. But otherwise, the Alto games are well worth checking out if you’re after a breezy, relaxing experience.

The Alto Collection has some issues on the Switch, but these lively games can keep you engaged considerably longer than expected.

The Alto Collection is a lovely set of Zen games with simple controls and beautiful music and graphics to enjoy as you adventure down the mountains again and again. Grinding issues aside this is easily a game to return to if you just want that quick gaming fix. Plus this is one of the few games I can think of that gives a bit of love to Lamas so its all good.

Conversions from the mobile space are always a bit of a tricky thing to review on a full-fledged gaming console like the Switch, too often lacking the depth of play to justify not just getting and enjoying them on your phone...

The Alto Collection bundles the serene endless runners Alto’s Adventure and Alto’s Odyssey into one visually stunning package. With simple one-button controls and procedurally generated slopes, both games offer intuitive, fast-paced gameplay enhanced by meditative visuals and a dreamy soundtrack. While perfectly suited for mobile, their minimalist design feels slightly out of place on PC and consoles—but still delivers a charming, if lightweight, experience for under ten bucks.

Its mobile roots definitely show but The Alto Collection offers some enjoyable albeit simplistic gameplay with eye-popping visuals.

While I probably won’t immediately think to jump on these on my PS4 with so many other options available to me – I still feel mobile is the best way to play – I have an appetite to unlock all the trophies and upgrades within the game. For that alone, The Alto Collection is very special set of games that are still a lot of fun to play years after they first released.

The Alto Collection is definitely one of best games to come out this year on Xbox One. Sure, it’s not as deep as some other sports games, but it’s easy to pick up and play mechanic makes it ideal for gamers of all ages. The goals aren’t that difficult and both games’ procedurally generated levels ensure that no playthroughs are similar. Don’t miss out.
