The Dark Queen of Mortholme offers a short yet compelling experience built on atmosphere, an unusual main character, and an antagonist who is more deeply involved in the story than one might expect in the opening minutes. Half an hour of entertaining banter, pondering, and the hero’s attempts to bring his opponent down—all leading up to a major plot climax—will likely fly by, and you’ll quickly decide to try it again, this time with a slightly different approach.

The Dark Queen of Mortholme is short, simple, and occasionally frustrating, but it’s also heartfelt, unique, and thought-provoking. Its pixel art is lovely, its music haunting, and its story concise yet impactful. If you approach it expecting a traditional action game, you may walk away unsatisfied. But if you accept it for what it is—a narrative-driven exploration of persistence, change, and perspective—you’ll likely find its half-hour runtime well worth the investment. – ColdMoon

For those who enjoy an experience that delves into questions about life and purpose, as well as having access to some powerful attacks, The Dark Queen of Mortholme packs a punch. It may only be 20 minutes long, but this is worth experiencing for yourself.

The Dark Queen of Mortholme is a game unlike any other I've played. It has a great story and a loop system that kept me coming back until I got to the end.
