The Consequence falls short of greatness, but chills with gruesome bosses and spectacular environments.

For the most part, however, the journey through The Consequence is a good one thanks to a solid combination of tension, mood and environment. If you're looking for a survival horror game that's a bit more intimate and doesn't have you armed to the teeth, "The Consequence" is worth taking out of the holster.

In conclusion this game is more of the same and a tiny bit more. It wouldn't be fair to assess The Consequence on it's individual elements because it's not meant to enjoyed without having played through the first half. Ultimately it's a pedal-to-the-metal conclusion which wraps up the loose ends, but survival horror fans may be left wanting by its action-lite stylings.

Despite some annoying issues, The Consequence is an engaging slice of DLC to complement The Evil Within's twisted game world.

"The Consequence" has many things working in its favor. We definitely get a much better sense of Kidman's motivation, what exactly the limits of her loyalty are, and to whom that loyalty lies. The presentation is also top notch and continues the feeling from "The Assignment" that the content was not simply cut from the disc and then released later to make some extra money. "The Consequence" does run shorter than "The Assignment", and the inclusion of gunplay does hurt this expansion somewhat. Despite this, if you enjoyed The Evil Within and "The Assignment", this is a must-have, and the combined weight of "The Assignment" and "The Consequence" makes purchasing the Season Pass for the game a very easy investment.

An obvious must have for those who have cleared The Assignment and are eager to continue the story, but if you aren't in that position, you might want to wait for a probable 'ultimate' edition later this year.

The Consequence's atmosphere was borderline perfection, unfortunately no other element of the game managed to follow suit. No matter how dark and terrifying the game manages to be at a standstill, it just isn't enough to carry the entire expansion to a fulfilling conclusion.

Another fantastic example of both DLC and survival horror done right, these two parts have been such a joy to experience, it cries out for a full sequel to The Evil Within to be made entirely in this style - less action, more terror! With The Consequence wrapping up Juli's story, the next DLC, The Keeper, looks like it will be something completely different. Stay with Cubed3 to see how it feels to play on the side of the monsters when this is released next.

Drenched in atmosphere and relying on running over gunning, The Consequence wreaks havoc on the nerves and keeps you on your toes at all times.

A welcome addition to the main game, The Consequence deepens The Evil Within while being satisfying in its own right.
