As wonderful as the art and soundtrack are, and for as much as I enjoy the story, they can't quite save what is otherwise a pretty standard puzzle-platformer. The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince only ever comes close to meeting its potential in the final stage of the game, and that's not an exaggeration. Every time it flirts with some creative concepts, it quickly retreats to its quotidian comfort zone. I personally love this game because I enjoy a good fairytale, but unlike the titular prince, I'm not so blind I can't see everything that's wrong with it.

The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince is a charming platform-puzzler with a captivating fairytale aesthetic that can't help but draw you in. Unfortunately, things take a dark turn thanks to clunky mechanics and uninspired level design. The lore is fantastic and the presentation remarkable, but ultimately, it's hard to come away from this game feeling anything but disappointed.

There are better Grimm-esque fairy tales out there.

The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince is just as enjoyable on PC as it was on the Vita nearly a decade ago. While the game has some level design shortcomings, the endless charm of its visuals and the creativity on display make this an excellent short-platformer experience.

The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince on PC is a story-first experience that leans heavily into emotion and atmosphere. Its gameplay is simple, sometimes too simple, but it serves the narrative very well to keep things moving. This is not a game for everyone, but for the right player, it makes an indelible mark.

The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince succeeds as a visually appealing and emotionally resonant fable, but it often struggles to function as an engaging video game. The storybook presentation is memorable, but the shallow puzzles and clunky platforming make the actual journey underwhelming. It is a beautiful piece of storytelling that unfortunately lacks the polish to match its artistic ambition.

The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince is a good game burdened by some unfortunate flaws. The story is engaging from beginning to end, and it can get pretty emotional at times. The concept of changing forms to deal with different situations is good, while the presentation catches your senses. Some will lament the game's lack of challenge, while others will hate how the game sometimes feels like it's limiting your controls so you'll encounter death more often than necessary. The narrative may compel you to play it, but you'll only enjoy it if you have the patience to deal with its issues.

The Liar Princess and Blind Prince is a massive missed opportunity and a prime example of a game that prioritizes style over substance. The game shines visually, but its beauty can't distract us from its terrible level design and mediocre plot.

The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince is what it wants to be: an unpretentious game, a bedtime story with its moral, a puzzle game that is not suffocating and tedious.

The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince is a short and wholesome 2D puzzle-platforming adventure game that puts players in the shoes of a wolf-turned-princess who wants to right the wrongs for a prince she accidentally blinded. This title's gameplay is simplistic, but it makes way for a beautiful storybook aesthetic and story that will uplift anyone's spirit.
