Why play it

Delight in the quaint charm of The Sims 4: Cottage Living, an expansion pack for The Sims 4, with animal friends, garden-to-table meals, and a close-knit community. Explore the forest to befriend woodland creatures, or head to town to meet the locals. Whether Sims are hugging a cow, making friends (or enemies) with their chickens, or growing the biggest vegetables around, the countryside presents abundant new ways to reconnect with the world.

Story and worldbuilding

Lead the simple life with The Sims 4 Cottage Living Expansion Pack. Get cozy with animal friends in the area, grow your own food and enjoy the charm of the local village. Cows provide fresh milk while chickens lay eggs in the coop. Beware of foxes (they love eggs), and keep an eye out for wildlife to earn their trust for occasional gifts and help in the garden. Whether Sims grow their own produce, visit the village market or forage in the wild, fresh is best. Up for a challenge? Try growing oversized crops and enter the Finchwick Fair competition. Henford-on-Bagley is a cozy village where everyone knows your name. So pack a picnic basket or head to The Gnome's Arms pub to kick back with locals after a long day. Learn about the town’s lore from neighbors for fun surprises.

The Sims 4: Cottage Living adds a variety of new and exciting opportunities to the base game. The new style is themed very well and fits the country aesthetic. The overall number of added features can be overwhelming at times, but this pack comes highly recommended to anyone wishing for a bit more action in the lives of their Sims.

Ultimately, Cottage Living is an expansion to The Sims 4 that allows you to change a bit the formula of the classic routine in which your Sim is divided between home life, work and social events. Leaving the city and its comforts becomes interesting especially if you accept the simple life challenge, which will push you to eat local and natural products, making you discover possibilities and atmospheres that will put you back a little at peace with the world.

The Sims 4 Cottage Living has the potential to become one of The Sims 4's essential Expansion Packs in the eyes of the community, forever altering gameplay like Seasons and Parenthood did. There is a lot to like about The Sims 4 Cottage Living, and with luck, Sims 4 fans will see more like it in the near future.

The “Cottage Living” expansion for the Sims 4, presents some new and interesting items and concepts, but it is assumed mainly as a wasted opportunity to insert different content that makes us want to stick to this title in the long run. Fundamentally, the diversity of animals, clothes or furniture proves to be insufficient to address our perception of being facing a new stage in The Sims 4. This aspect could be something addressed with the new city (which is even the best aspect of this DLC) , but it's lack of identity towards rural life does not allow a complete interiorization of what is objectified.

The world of Henford-On-Bagley is absolutely breathtaking and has such a fairy-like and whimsical charm. EA really did a wonderful job capturing the rustic vibe of the European countryside. There are a few flaws with inventory management and the relatively scant wardrobe options, but you can still really enjoy your time on the farm. Because honestly, what’s better than being able to hug and pet your cows and llamas!

Cottage Living has room to improve, but it delivers on the simple joy of taking care of cute animals in a farm-like setting and shows that The Sims 4 still has much to offer.

A nice DLC that adds new zones and activities, but lacks a bit more of farming simulation features.

I've been playing Cottage Living for an hour or two each day for a week now, and still feel like I have a lot left to discover. There are plenty of quests, and I really like the laid back simple living feeling to the expansion. Caring for and dressing up my farm animals is an absolute delight. Cottage Living is a total home run in my opinion, if you're a fan of the game this is a must-have for your collection.

The Sims 4: Cottage Living is a gorgeous expansion that adds some of the best and most on-trend in-game items and experiences we've ever had, but it's come with that it seems are causing issues for pretty much everyone playing the game. There is a lot to do, a lot to see, but also a lot of glitches to fix in Henford-on-Bagley.

The Sims 4: Cottage Living is definitely one of the best additions to the iconic game from EA Maxis. The creators finally listened to the players and thus released dlc, which every fan of the series should simply own.
