Why play it

Light the candles and prepare the rituals to appease your ghastly new roommates with The Sims 4: Paranormal Stuff. Spectral guests cause mischief and mayhem on Haunted House Lots, but Sims can perform a séance, befriend Guidry the Ghost, become a Paranormal Investigator, and restore order.

Story and worldbuilding

Your new-to-you home might be home to someone else, too, if it’s one of the new Haunted House Lots! Appease the mischievous specters to relax in serenity, or let them run amok for scares day and night. If you want to send your new roommates packing, Guidry the Ghost is happy to advise you. Remove accursed objects, perform a séance, commune with the dead, and receive gifts from specters! You can even summon Bonehilda the skeletal maid. Master the Medium skill and impress Guidry to get a Paranormal Investigator license! Once you’re ready, take on some freelance gigs to expel unwelcome visitors for other Sims. With spooky activity on the rise, it’s up to your Sim to put a stop to it.

Though it's got a few bumps, The Sims 4: Paranormal stuff pack is a spooky delight for fans of the supernatural, adding interesting new gameplay.

The Sims 4: Paranormal Stuff is a great example of a Pack, it includes some classic Sims dark humour, and increases the challenge of the game by a fair bit if you let it. It doesn't come cheap, but for the amount of content and the sheer silliness introduced it may just be worth it. The items are maybe my favourite so far with their witchy charm, and the return of Bonehilda is a welcome one. It is a lot of fun, but may be best suited to spooky Sims with a high libido…

While it's true that The Sims 4 stuff packs usually focus on inserting several new items to indulge in, which are in theme with the purchased box set, Paranormal Phenomena looks much more at the introduction of precise dynamics.

Everything a Sims DLC should be.

The Sims 4: Paranormal Stuff Pack is a nice, niche addition to the game that feels like it should always have been here. It was not obvious on how to start your journey as a Medium, but once you get in you're guaranteed some spooky fun.

Overall, The Sims 4’s Paranormal Stuff Pack adds some gameplay elements that make the game a bit more fun, but it’s definitely not content-heavy. Paranormal is something you engage with at night or on the side when your Sims aren’t busy with their actual lives.

The Sims 4 Paranormal Stuff Pack has a lot of potential but needs some tweaking with the emotion buffs. A little more guidance on how to get things set up to be Haunted would make it easier for the player to jump in. The Medium skill is a lot of fun, and the new Paranormal Investigator career, while frustrating at times, is definitely something new and fun to try out if your Sims have been in a rut. At $9.99 it's worth the purchase, and a welcome addition to the game.
