With a lengthy campaign offering plenty of high-octane racing action across a variety of events, Trail Out is easy to recommend to arcade racing games fans who are also fond of a little destruction. It has some technical issues that pull it down a little, and there's no online multiplayer, but if you can live with those things, you'll have an absolute blast.

Trail Out is once again a blast of fun on the current generation thanks to its refreshed visuals, even greater destruction, and even bigger explosions. It offers plenty of variety both solo and in split-screen co-op, and at first glance, it's unlikely to be recognized as an "indie title." Plus, the price of just under €30 is absolutely fair for what it offers! So, if you're looking for a few great hours of destruction and fun racing, Trail Out is currently a great choice :)

A distinct lack of it’s own identity, a bit of jank, some uneven performance and a lack of online multiplayer perhaps doesn’t make it into an essential buy, but if you’re nostalgic for FlatOut games, or just the arcade racer attitude of the 00’s and are able to put up with some of the jank, you will surely have a lovely time in Trail Out.

Trail Out is a solid and well-made clone that draws heavily on the legendary FlatOut series. If, like me, you were frustrated by the quality of the last two installments and were looking for something to satisfy your craving for a return—which I hope we’ll see someday—Trail Out is the one. Unfortunately, the game also has a number of shortcomings, though these can be fixed with updates. We give it eight and a half out of ten.

GOOD BOYS possess the technology and talent to make a well made game, but clearly lack the experience in making it wholly enjoyable. TRAIL OUT asks the player to endure a lot of problems for the pockets of fun you could potentially have. Now, if you can overlook its many rough edges and tedium, it’s essentially the next FlatOut when had in small doses – but Wreckfest this is not. In the end, TRAIL OUT is unfortunately more trouble than it’s worth, and doesn’t come recommended.
