Turbo Kid

Turbo Kid is a fun and content-rich Metroidvania with quirky characters and BMX action. It's held back by minor pacing and gameplay issues, but still delivers an enjoyable experience.

When it comes to games based on movies, Turbo Kid is certainly one of the best as it carries on the indie heart of its inspiration wonderfully. 🚴‍♂️

Without sounding too much like Goldilocks, Turbo Kid is a metroidvania just the way I like it. Not too easy, not too hard and the exploration is challenging and not too hand-holdy. Is Turbo Kid the greatest metroidvania based on a Michael Ironside film? Of course it is, until a Top Gear or Starship Troopers metroidvania comes along (publishers and developers take note). But in all seriousness, Turbo Kid is very good in all the right places and is a must-play for any metroidvania fans!

Turbo Kid is a fantastic metroidvania that gives the player a lot of freedom and choice. It presents a lot of great ideas, references and moments, and it has a lot of replay value that makes the experience totally worth it.

Turbo Kid is a Metroidvania where you can summon a bike at the push of a button, and that is absolutely as cool as it sounds.

Turbo Kid could have played dirty and stuffed in an endless barrage of citations for their own sake without caring too much about the content, sure to win over a large audience of nostalgic gamers anyway. Instead, it has been created with a genuine love for the metroidvania genre, adding to the typical skills such as jumping, crouching and climbing, also a large set of stunts typical of the BMX world, with a level design that takes full advantage of them. The result is interesting and successfully distracts from a look that has been seen many times before and from a main quest that adds nothing new.

Turbo Kid (the game) is the perfect adaptation inspired by Turbo Kid (the movie). I couldn't have imagined a different gameplay style, graphics, color palette and soundtrack to represent the universe depicted in the original work.
