Story and worldbuilding

eSports Boxing Club is a realistic boxing game made from the ground-up with the professional boxing community. In ESBC, you will rise through the Amateur system, going through the professional ranks to win the coveted Lonsdale Belt, then going onto Continental and World titles featuring officially licensed governing bodies. Not only will you be levelling up your fighter through winning fights, you will also have to hire your own staff - Trainer, Cut-man, Nutritionist and Promotor. There are also real-life boxing gyms in ESBC, each with their own fight styles and traits. Choose your own path towards a World Title, will you go through the ranks and not 'duck' anyone? Or choose your fights as risk-free as possible. Each decision will have consequences for your career. In the ESBC Tournament - You will have the chance to be crowned the eWBC Champion of the World, with the physical belt being sanctioned by the World Boxing Council.

Undisputed does a lot of new and interesting things in the boxing genre, but also fails to connect in several key areas.

Undisputed doesn't pull its punches, and it's a tidy first attempt. While the game lacks the polish of a true champion, there's the meat of something special here. Career mode has all the elements of a great, but it's a bit dry in its current guise and could use a little more spectacle and variety. Meanwhile, the actual core boxing feels fantastic, but repetitive commentary and a lack of in-ring drama let it down. This is a release that's not quite ready to contend for a belt yet, but it's not a million miles off.

Undisputed could fight Fight Night at its peak of glory hand to hand and, perhaps, win, although not by knockout, but by points. Undisputed is a must-have in the library of all boxing lovers and those looking for an experience closer to realism in the ring. Get into this ring with all confidence, it is the most beautiful and complete fight you will have had in a long time.

The DLC was a nice way to reconnect with the game, but it left me with little pleasure on a content level, perhaps a couple of more additions in terms of fighters or scenarios would have left me more satisfied. I think the next addition should add more legends of international travel, possibly with a Mike Tyson at the helm and a few more arenas where he can throw jabs by the piece.

Let’s face it Undisputed doesn’t have any direct competition right now so it’s hard not to call it the best boxing game on the market. But hopefully what this ambitious project will do is spark some rival studios to create and make boxing games great again. As for Undisputed though, what we have is a fantastic stab at an engaging in-ring experience with plenty of content to dive into. Sure it isn’t perfect, but from a brand-spanking new studio and its first outing into the gaming world, this is a sterling effort into a genre no one has risked for a long time. If you’re after that fix of scrappy fights on the sofa in front of a screen with your mates or you want to dodge and weave your way to success on the online leaderboards, then Undisputed does it all. It does it well enough to bring replayability and longevity to your personal gameplay experience and if you love boxing then I assure you that you’ll find enjoyment here.

Undisputed aimed to become the best boxing game in over a decade. The game features more than seventy licensed boxing celebrities, an entertaining career mode, and matches that are spiced up by various boxing styles. Unfortunately, the game is severely hampered by technical issues and various bugs. As it stands, I can’t recommend it (even though, as a boxing fan, I’d really like to), and instead I’d wait for possible future updates.

Undisputed is a strong attempt to bring boxing back to the spotlight in the gaming world after decades of hiatus. With a solid career mode, realistic graphics, and well-executed ring action, it’s likely the new benchmark in a genre long absent of such titles. For boxing fans missing these games, Undisputed does an excellent job of reviving the thrill of the sport. The year of early access has resulted in a commendable game, with only minor flaws that don’t detract from its solid and enjoyable gameplay.

Undisputed struggles with gameplay flaws and an overall lackluster feel after over a decade without boxing simulators. However, it offers notable features like a deep character editor and unique controls for each fighter, which will appeal to boxing fans, though it may fall short compared to classics like Fight Night Round 4 for others.

Undisputed is a significant addition to the world of boxing games, delivering an exciting experience that blends realism with a variety of game modes, despite some technical and graphical flaws. If you're a fan of realism in games, Undisputed offers an unforgettable adventure in the world of boxing.

In the end, it's not about Undisputed being a good game or not, because it has solid elements and defends itself, but it's what it's been for more than a decade and it's our only option. Undoubtedly, and despite its failures, it has bases that excite for what could be done in the future and with a larger budget. If you're a fan of boxing and you're fed up with the last game of 2013, give Undisputed a try, although keep in mind that it's not a AAA simulator and its edges are rough. If you don't have a problem with that, welcome back to the ring and let the bell ring.
