Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story 2 is a game that has some great elements of simulation for building up your prestigious academy for future heroes, but is bogged down by bugs, glitches and interesting mechanic decisions.

Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story 2 manages to present two opposite sides when it comes to quality. On the administration side, the title has a good challenge and diverse possibilities to manage and plan the studies of the future heroes. On the RPG one, it fails to present any attractive content, delivering tedious and monotone moments. Despite its qualities, it's hard to recommend it due to how many hours it takes to explore its bland scenery and to overcome the repetitive battles.

Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story 2 is a game that presents an intriguing premise but executes it poorly, to say the least. Though it has some good value that might please fans of simulation and RPG, the title has a lot of annoying bugs that significantly hinder the experience.

I did encounter a few issues during the review. One crash took me out of the game completely, and one creature quest started me in a location where the specified creature didn’t spawn. Other than that I only saw some minor issues, such as mistranslated dialogue or jitter on some enemy animations, so overall the quality was good.

Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story 2 tries to be too many things at the same time without managing to be anything exciting overall other than boring and confusing.

I like Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story 2, but I can’t recommend it yet based on the bugs and glitches. The game has been in Early Access on PC, so I wonder if some problems have just transferred over to the Switch. I do hope all its issues get ironed out because bugs and glitches aside, this is an addictive experience once you get your head around all the mechanics. An experience that will clearly keep you busy for months and possibly longer to enjoy in small or long bursts. It’s clearly a good fit for the Switch, but it’s just not there yet. I’ll look to update this review once the bugs are ironed out. For now, keep it wish-listed.
