A solid metroidvania with a remarkable visual and audio identity, standing out for its atmosphere and execution, even if it lacks major innovations within the genre. It is ideal for those seeking an immersive, challenging experience with a personality of its own.

Voidwrought has some momentum with its gameplay mechanics and designs. However, there are some hiccups that prevent it from standing out in the saturated pool of Metroidvania-style games.

Voidwrought is a treat for fans of the genre. Although it doesn't stand out in terms of mechanics, the title does everything competently and, without a doubt, delivers more than enough to guarantee us good hours of gameplay.

Voidwrought’s strong visual style and musical score enhance an already stellar game with a great sense of mobility and combat focus. The exploration of its world is constantly rewarding, with countless relics and souls to track down, always ensuring you find something new for your trouble. With a challenging series of bosses to vanquish, a world to explore, Voidwrought is wonderfully designed, even if its story is unfortunately disappointing.

Combining Egyptian themes with a dash of sci-fi flair, Voidwrought is very pretty for a Metroidvania. Its story is light, and there is minor backtracking here and there, but its eye-catching visuals and satisfying gameplay make it a great pick.

It is a very enjoyable game, with challenging platforming, boss fights, and a variety of very detailed enemies throughout the biomes. And while I personally felt frustrated in some areas, I know a few of my fellow gamers who found Voidwrought enjoyable and even felt pushed to complete the game because of its challenging features. So, why not try the game out for yourself?

Voidwrought is a competent metroidvania with great mechanics, impactful visual and exceptional artstyle. However, the game sticks too close to its inspirations, especially Hollow Knight, and ends up easier overall, in both exploration and combat.

It’s definitely not wrong to make a Metrovania with a higher focus on exploration and platforming, but Voidwrought hurts itself by having very simple levels and barely any platforming challenges. This lack of commitment to a premise makes the game feel safe and mostly forgettable, as it doesn’t bring anything new to the overcrowded Metrovania genre.

Voidwrought was an excellent experience that felt like I got a good dose of something to keep me coming back for more. My only gripe with the game is that I wish it was longer or had more bosses. It was honestly a great distraction from the pain of waiting for Silksong. So, if you like game designs close to Darkest Dungeon, but want it in a Metroidvania build, Voidwrought is the game for you. I award Voidwrought the Thumb Culture Gold Award

On paper, Voidwrought is an excellent Metroidvania that we particularly recommend to fans of the genre, offering fluid and enjoyable gameplay mechanics. However, the title ultimately delivers what can only be described as a 'homework assignment.' While exploration is undoubtedly the game's strong suit, its combat system, while theoretically sound, suffers from some execution issues, quickly becoming repetitive and mundane due to the game's overall lack of challenge. Fortunately, this somewhat precarious structure is supported by an impeccable art direction that leaves a lasting impression on the player.
