Why play it

As the sole survivor of Team November, a Ranger squad dispatched to the icy Colorado wastes, you find this is a land of buried secrets, lost technology, fearsome lunatics, and deadly factions. No one here has ever heard of the Desert Rangers. Your reputation is yours to build from scratch, and your choices may save this land or doom it. With a renewed focus on macro-reactivity, you'll be picking between warring factions, deciding whether locations are destroyed or saved, and making other far reaching decisions that have a marked impact on the shape of your world.

Story and worldbuilding

You push yourself from the ground. Biting wind claws at your eyes, your throat. Every inch of your body hurts, but you are alive. Your squadmates are not. They lie motionless, frozen beneath the bloody snow. You will join them if you don’t get out of this storm. A light flickers in the howling dark, over a distant hill. Wincing, you set off towards it.

Choices with major consequences, satisfying combat, and a boldly distinctive and humorous post-apocalyptic world make Wasteland 3 a memorable RPG.

inXile's old-school RPG is the Fallout game we've been craving.

A wilfully strange setting explored through a predictable but enjoyable old school RPG thats been streamlined just enough.

Wasteland 3 doesn't bring much new to the table, both as a CRPG and as a piece of post-apocalyptic fiction. But, it's a terrifically executed role-playing game that rewards player investment from beginning to end.

The world is yours to shape and form however you choose. While a bit rough around the edges, the exploration and discovery entertainment is top-notch.

Colorado is a cold and violent den of outlaws in this characterful action game that gives players choices over its benighted society, but lacks a distinct hook

If I have to fight through listless combat, buggy UI, and an onslaught of juvenile gags to see one of the many endings, I’d rather leave the snowfields of Colorado behind. To hell with the consequences.

Wasteland 3 is a fantastic post-apocalyptic RPG. Great writing, satisfying, tactical combat, and a world full of memorable characters and meaningful player choice make this a no-brainer for fans of the genre. If you can look past the bugs, there's so much to love about this deliciously dark humoured excursion.

Wasteland 3's odd flavor of storytelling and deliberate sense of unease make it one of the more interesting RPGs I've played in a long while.

If you’re a big fan of the original Wasteland games, or just an RPG fan in general, then I highly recommend picking up Wasteland 3 and giving it a try.
