Youtubers Life: OMG Edition

YouTubers Life OMG is an agreeable video-making tycoon game wrapped up in a few fundamental problems. The main gameplay loop is compelling, and it's a pleasure to watch as your subscriber tally and bank account start to soar. However, some poor presentation, a clumsy camera, and a couple of other small issues stop it from being the viral hit it wants to be. Those looking for a casual management sim to tackle may find some enjoyment here, but it's hard to recommend it to anyone else.

As it stands, it's really only good for mindless entertainment. I guess the same can be said of most YouTube channels, too.

I started my review with a caveat (typical Lawyer) and it was always going to be an uphill struggle for Youtubers Life OMG! to make me a fan. I must admit it did become quite addictive but ultimately I did get bored with it and didn’t really care in the end if my character became a youtube star or not . As I said just simply not a game for me. I do think the game would work well as a mobile game and indeed there are ios and Android versions already out there. Those with ambitions to be a Youtuber who are perhaps a bit too young and skint to buy the proper kit to successfully stream games on twitch and youtube will probably love this game and it is worth a look for them. I generally don’t dislike simulation games but I like them to be of something that I am probably never going to have the opportunity to do in real life and perhaps by focusing on the gaming channel it was all a little bit too close to home for me. I would never buy a Law office simulator (who would) and therefore as I review games for Thumb Culture there was no sense that I was doing something I couldn’t or wouldn’t do in real life. All that being said if the devs brought out Youtubers Life Fyre Festival dlc I would be all over it (I really do recommend that documentary on Netflix (other video streaming platforms available)).

Youtubers Life OMG! Edition is a great game for anyone who wishes to discover how it feels to live the life of a YouTuber and what kind of satisfaction can be gained from this particular profession. Some dynamics are very interesting, but its repetitive gameplay is likely to bore quickly.

Youtubers Life has hints of a decent life sim peeking out, but is never given a chance to shine due a layer of meaningless mechanics and endless stuttering that stunts progress. Don't like or subscribe to this channel.

YouTubers Life OMG! Edition is a cute little game that peers into the hectic nature of running a “U-Tube” channel while running your own life. Unfortunately, the monotonous gameplay leaves what could have been “simple but fun” as “simple and grindy”.

Fans of simulation games will probably quite enjoy this title. While it isn’t as in-depth or fleshed out as The Sims, Youtuber’s Life is addictive and fun in a more condensed form.

Overall Youtubers Life was an unusually enjoyable experience.

Youtubers Life OMG Edition is certainly playable. It didn't crash once, but it did bug out several times. If you are a hardcore simulation fan, or if you want a game where you don't really want to think too much about the experience, then go ahead and try this game. But if you are looking for a polished simulation experience, I'm afraid you won't find it here.
