Goblin Slayer Another Adventurer: Nightmare Feast

As someone unfamiliar with the Goblin Slayer franchise, I found this to be an entirely average game that offers no distinctive advantages over similar titles in its genre. Only diehard fans of the source material seeking comprehensive franchise coverage will find value here - all others would be better served by superior alternatives within the genre.

Much like Triangle Strategy, both games suffer from having to compete with Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre. No SRPG has ever or likely will ever come close to achieving such greatness. You’re better off revisiting those two classics if you need to scratch the strategy RPG itch.

Goblin Slayer -Another Adventurer- Nightmare Feast will not be enough to win people over to SRPGs or to the game's source material. But if you're already a fan of either (or both), it does more than enough to keep you entertained throughout.

There are loads of great tactics games out there, and unfortunately Goblin Slayer -Another Adventurer- Nightmare Feast just can't hang with them.

To those who haven’t seen the anime, it’s just another SRPG, and maybe they’ll like the story and check it out. For those who are fans of the anime, they’ll enjoy that it isn’t just a redo of stuff they’ve already seen while also getting a handful of subtle references.

Goblin Slayer is a perfectly adequate tactics JRPG that people who have nostalgia for the genre back on the PlayStation will have a particular fondness for. Mileage may be slightly better for the fans of the anime, but even then I think the big problem this game has is that it’s very superficial and shows very little interest in making any kind of statement or point. In other words, it plays exactly like an ‘anime tie-in’ game, and nothing more or less than that.

Goblin Slayer Another Adventurer: Nightmare Feast delivers a solid tactical RPG experience. It achieves what it sets out to do, offering an engaging, albeit straightforward, story. Fans of the Goblin Slayer franchise will likely appreciate the narrative and character interactions more than newcomers, as familiarity with the source material enhances the experience.

Goblin Slayer -Another Adventurer- Nightmare Feast is the kind of game that doesn't give a good first impression but after a while, it really opens up in impressive ways so stick to it and you'll see that it's one great SRPG. 👺
