The ball might not always go exactly where you want it to, but it's a fun time getting there

At its core, Golf With Your Friends is still a decent golf game. Get an online multiplayer game going with some similarly-skilled pals and you'll have a great time making your way through its weird and wonderful courses (don't even get us started on the Worms course and the jetpacks you can get). Its main problem is that every time you change these optimum conditions – playing with strangers, playing offline, playing solo, playing with a mix of experts and beginners – you're going to get diminishing returns from your experience. As long as you take the title literally, you'll have fun.

There have been plenty of outings over the past few years that take the basic template of golf, as a sport, and manage to transform into something else.

Golf With your Friends is a solid example of the phrase "It Does Exactly What It Says On The Tin." Focusing less on flashy visuals, and instead nailing a simple recreation of mini-golf, backed by accessible controls, and plenty of level and mode variety, results in a top gaming option for groups of Switch players.

My biggest takeaway from Golf with Your Friends is my newfound Golf lingo education – a hole in one, Birdie, Eagle, Par, Bogey, and Double Bogey – I finally know what they mean now (please refer back to the disclaimer at the beginning of this review). At the end of it all, I can confidently say that Golf with Your Friends is a charming golf game that you can enjoy by yourself or with others.

It's a little janky at times and the interface a bit cumbersome, but at its core it's a brilliantly entertaining game that knows what it wants to be, and achieves it well.

Golf with Your Friends is exactly what it touts and does not disappoint one bit.

It's like mini golf... but more infuriating! But it can be fun too.

Team17's Golf With Your Friends is a colorful, relaxing mini-golf simulator that puts the fun of the green into the comfort of the living room.

Unfortunately, there’s no cross-play in sight, which seems like a gargantuan missed opportunity with the recent Console releases. The Steam version is by far the one with the most active playerbase though, so if you play here, then you’re in for a good time, especially if you have friends willing to join your lobby. Add custom levels and worlds that the Steam Workshop provides, and you have an insane amount of multiplayer replay value that makes this one of the best computer games I’ve ever played online.
