Why play it

Magical Blush is a top-down action-adventure where fast-paced elemental combat meets Metroidvania-style exploration. Chain spell combos, exploit elemental weaknesses, rescue survivors, and team up in local co-op as you battle the powerful Elemental Lords and explore the wondrous world of Wyn.

Story and worldbuilding

When the world unravels, rewrite it with magic. Arnin is a powerful mage and the guardian of the Elemental Lords. After returning from the astral plane, she discovers that her world has been devastated. The Elemental Lords, chaotic magic—have been released by a mysterious figure and now threaten the land of Wyn. Arnin must travel across her kingdom, save the survivors, and face the fury of fire, water, wind, stone, and spirit. Chain powerful spells, command elemental forces, and uncover the secrets. The fate of Wyn is in your hands!

Standing in the way of the fun in Magical Blush above all are technical problems and endless waves of enemies. This is especially true when both coincide, and I not only have to defeat the same old enemies in different rooms, but repeatedly in the very same room. The combat system itself doesn't entirely convince me, with cooldowns and mana that in combination tempt you to use less effective but more frequently available spells. Puzzles and interconnectivity within and between areas, including unlockable paths in earlier areas, are well executed.
