Beyond Enemy Lines: Covert Operations is an Early Access game that's come out of the oven less than half-baked. The good intentions of the developer are clear to see in the open-ended nature of each map and the way you approach each objective in your way by opening locked doors and hacking computers rather than shooting your way into a facility, but none of the mechanics in place ever make these conditions feel reliable or rewarding. It's a purely single-player experience that really needed more time to work out its considerable number of kinks before enlisting on the eShop.

As I said, it feels like Beyond Enemy Lines Remastered is a very early demo of an upcoming game or a direct port of a 2000 PC game. While relying on stealth for the genre, given the game’s very limited and barebone visuals can sometimes make it difficult to spot enemies before they spot you; which kinda screws up of chances for being stealthy. Fans of Hitman might find some redeemable qualities here, despite the limited arsenal, but fans of action-packed FPS games really should stay clear from this Microsoft Paint look-a-like game.

This shooter turns old really fast, while there is some variety in it’s missiones, the way to complete them gets tedious. Bugs, poor perfomance, mediocre controllers makes this a hassle rather than a joy.

A rather solid game, good gameplay which kept me on my toes and thinking at all times. Alright gunfights that were often over rather quickly and occasionally featured twitching AI whom I wasn't sure if they were still alive or not and good use of a low-budget and his own skills. I predict great things for this developer as long as he doesn't get greedy! Much better than their previous game! Well done Polygon Art!
