Castle on the Coast

Short but undeniably lovely and containing some of the best 3D platforming money can buy, Castle on the Coast soars, only to be held back some by uneven pacing.

This is simply an odd title that inspires some feelings of nostalgia for early 3D platforming, which can be a good thing, but that also then feels weirdly out of place as a new game on modern consoles...

Castle on the Coast is a lovingly crafted 3D platformer packed with humour and excellent level design. I was thoroughly entertained during the three hours or so it took to complete the game. However, the fiddly gameplay, performance (on the Switch) and the stunt car level are fairly significant drawbacks, meaning that, overall, the game is only recommended for fans of the genre.
