Why play it

It’s a mystical, fantasy world where there’s lush greenery, vast plains, towering mountains – and dark spaceships. Yep. While it seems like your typical world of swords and magic, End of Eternity adds alien invasion in the mix, corrupting humans and animals alike, turning them into heartless metal monsters. Daryon, the game’s redheaded hero, heads out to escape from the attacks of his own kind and ventures across Heryon in search for the way to save his world and define his own self along the way. But it seems that the Crystals have a different plan in mind…

For a game made by a small team it’s very ambitious — but that’s also the problem. Environments are far larger than they need to be, and the title struggles to load in textures and has a fair amount of pop-in. There are also loads of systems, such as party energy levels or crafting, which are never fully explained or seem to be particularly useful... It definitely feels like developer Midgar Studio should have reduced the scope of both the story and some of the gameplay systems, because this may have allowed it to add more polish to the areas that work well. It’s a shame, as the game does have plenty of potential, but it’s a little bit too rough around the edges to fully enjoy.

Edge of Eternity is a decent yet rough-around-the-edges JRPG-styled game that hints at potential greatness in its later stages.

Edge of Eternity aims for the stars and manages to reach a few of them, delivering a compelling plot and an expansive, varied, and often-beautiful world. Sadly, clunky dialogue, issues with exploration and combat, and a pervasive level of jankiness hold the game back. You have to admire Midgar Studio for pushing themselves, but as is, the Edge of Eternity may be too jagged for some.

Edge of Sanity is a wonderfully made game that is a must-get for psychological horror and survival fans. It also offers a lot for the casual player and tells a great story. The challenge of resource management and survival might detract from some, but it only adds more to the game. It puts you in the main character's shoes and offers striking visuals, great gameplay, and brilliant voice acting. Edge of Sanity is a wonderful survival horror game, and you'll miss out on a lot if you don't grab a copy.

Edge of Eternity is a passion project by those people who really love JRPGs putting together. While it is a bit rough around the edges, there are great ideas here and some things to love, including a fair battle system and beautiful crafted world.

A French look at jRPG. Edge of Eternity is a title with a lot of advantages, for which it is worth at least taking a look, but unfortunately the mountain of errors does not allow you to get such pleasure from the game as it should be. At the moment, therefore, we get a medium with ambitions for something better if only the creators take the right steps.

It's impossible to recommend Edge of Eternity for purchase, even given the relatively cheap price the title has. But if you really want to play this game, just try it on through Game Pass subscription.

Even if the cloud service it uses was running normally, Edge of Eternity is at best an OK game that fails to deliver on its explosive opening. The combat is fun but loses that fun when you're overwhelmed with enemies in long, drawn-out battles. The open world is interesting but it's simply way too large and empty for you to enjoy exploring. The story starts off great but fizzles out very quickly into a somewhat uninteresting, boring mess. It might be best to look somewhere else for a more enjoyable tactical game.
