Gigapocalypse is an odd mixture of games. You wouldn't think there's an intersection between Rampage, Tamagotchi, and clicker games -- and yet, here we have a game that combines all three. And you know what? It mostly works.

A lack of a more action-oriented focus and too much grind for too little return hold this monster bash back

Gigapocalypse is a fun and aggressive side-scrolling arcade title. With a badass soundtrack and brilliantly retro graphics, this oozes nostalgia. I loved its simplicity as well as its layers of depth. Furthermore, the choice of Gigas and the vast amount of upgrades ensure that no playthrough is ever the same.

Gigapocalypse is one of those games that you'll find too simple and even a little silly, but that will conquer you little by little, either through good humor or through unbridled destruction. Unfortunately, the fact that it puts too much strain on the buttons will make you think hard about whether it's worth investing an entire afternoon into it.

Gigapocalypse isn’t for the masses. Those who don’t mind hammering buttons to destroy towns and their inhabitants, however, are likely to have a fair amount of fun with it. It has its issues, but developing kaiju is a rewarding affair. And once they’re powered up there’s a lot of pleasure to be derived from causing mass destruction. Add in the fact that there are nine kaiju to develop overall, each their own unique appearance and skills, and you have a game that will have lasting appeal to those who gel with it.
