As a horror lover, whenever I see a game with a dark-sounding name, I am always interested. As a title, Hell Pages was too intriguing for me to pass up. Going in blind, I loaded up the game and eagerly awaited the horrors.

'Mundane' is the word that perfectly describes this horizontal shooter. Hell Pages is way too basic in what it offers and isn't even that good at it. Simply put, the genre is choke full of alternatives, at the same, or even lower price, so there's no need to play this.

Hell Pages is hardly a groundbreaking game, but it’s also not all bad. Though decidedly old school and occasionally primitive, it still has a solid core loop, outstanding tunes and hideous demonic boss battles. If you can get past the lack of weapon variety and the ho hum upgrades, you might find something to enjoy in this festival of monsters. For everybody else, get your Evil Dead fix from the source material.

A bland, soulless horizontal SHMUP that is extremely basic and by the numbers. Interesting boss designs don't do enough to hold the rest of the game up. In such a crowded genre there are much better options.

Hell Pages is a very mediocre take on the ultra-saturated shoot ’em up genre, with little going on besides its edgelord themes and art style. If you’re a massive fan of classic Doom and pretty much any piece of media that tries to emulate its visuals and soundtrack, then I’d say you could give this game a try and have a few minutes of fun with it.
