Why play it

Jin Conception is a social deduction fantasy thriller turn based JRPG. Eight playable characters stories intertwine when three characters enter Final Layer and two vanish without a trace. One returns back from Final Layer but claims to not remember what happened. Who do you trust? Who is telling the truth and who is lying? Who is friend and who is foe? Key Features: Strategic turn based combat involving balance. Battles happen on the same field as movement, no switching screens when combat starts. Affliction and buff system, for example, players cannot run away if they have stuck affliction. Double and triple Jin techs allow party members to combine attacks with each other to form stronger attacks. Traps can be set in combat for strategic purposes such as delaying an attack for later. Jin Conception is NOT like Among Us. Jin Conception is a single player game where you have to figure out who is friend and who is foe.

Jin Conception is a great concept but the initial gameplay may scare gamers off. Nonetheless, players who stick to it will be rewarded with a long adventure that spans around 20 hours to complete. There are some very nice ideas presented here but not all of them hit the mark, with a few bugs that also hindered my experience. However, for all its flaws Jin Conception isn't a bad game, with the visuals and music being great throughout with some of the game's mechanics improving as you progress.

Jin Conception is certainly a whirlwind of feelings. While the combat is very well done and the mechanics of social deduction instigates curiosity, the numerous bugs and wrong decisions in the game design make it tiring, frustrating and disappointing. There is a potential hidden in the midst of the problems that appears to be a light at the end of the tunnel. At the moment, it is just an RPG that delivers an experience of the nostalgic games of the 16-bit era, but in a mediocre way.
