Kid Tripp

Kid Tripp is a polished, simple little platformer that will put your skills to the test from the very beginning. It's a no-frills experience that's light on ceremony, giving you 20 levels of rapid gameplay that's perfect for short sessions and high-score chasing, but falls a little flat in terms of creativity and content. While it's undoubtedly a fun ride while it lasts, the whole game can be beaten in under an hour, so don't expect much in the way of post-game content or extreme replayability, unless you really want to dig into the nitty gritty of mastering each level. That being said, it's a solid budget title and one well worth looking into if you want a delightfully punishing dose of retro gameplay. It's a Tripp worth taking.

Despite its auto-run mechanic, Kid Tripp is an addictive, fun albeit frustrating 2D platformer. Some levels will require practice in order to learn enemy and obstacle placement in order to prepare yourself properly. While I would’ve liked it better as a standard platformer, this is a unique bite-size game for those looking for a quick challenge.

Gamers who enjoy finally beating levels after countless attempts will like Kid Tripp but everyone else should avoid this frustrating runner.

It doesn't stand out, but the grassy plains do their trick well enough. Above all, the title just feels nice to toy around with. It is why I will go back and better my runs a couple times down the line!.

Kid Tripp is a somewhat fun auto-runner game light on content but looks great and is priced generously. It has its frustrating moments, but there's certainly worse games lingering out there on the eShop.

Kid Tripp isn’t a game that will likely stick with you for long but that isn’t to say it can’t be a fun and light distraction for a reasonable price of admission. Its light style and classic gameplay are a welcome departure from much more serious fare on the Switch and yet once you get into the groove it tends to suck you in while it has you with a “I know I can get it on the next run” hook. As long as you understand the game’s limits it is a solid bargain of a budget title on the eShop.

Kid Tripp as a whole is a quality game that features fun and welcome mechanics within the endless runner genre and with a rich and varied audiovisual background. While it feels short for those who complete it soon enough, it's a fun experience that is certainly pleasant to play and which lasts enough without ever feeling too repetitive.

Kid Tripp is a very fun release on Nintendo 3DS. Its autorunner nature might sub some people the wrong way, but the fact that each of its levels has been handcrafted instead of being procedurally generated makes a big difference. Trial and error will allow you to learn a level's layout little by little as you die from all the enemies and hazards on your path, allowing you to get better as you go. The game is very entertaining on 3DS and should be just as fun on the Nintendo Switch when it releases later in the year.

I had fun with this release, but I do wish the game had a few more levels thrown into the mix to increase its longevity. Mind you, what's in here is fun, but another 10 level would have made this an even better package. If you're looking for a short and challenging platformer, then Kid Tripp on the Nintendo 3DS will definitely scratch that itch.
