There's no part of Reverie I can point to and say, “This is bad,” as nothing it does would warrant such a label. In fact, most of the game is rather pleasant, but it's a type of pleasantry that dissipates the moment I set down the controller.

A charming adventure inspired by The Legend of Zelda and Earhbound

It’s kind of funny that the entirety of Tai’s journey takes place during a short visit to his grandparents because that’s what this game essentially felt like—a quick trip. Though much shorter than I would have liked it, there’s no denying that the LoZ-inspired adventure offered by Reverie: Sweet As Edition is anything other than fun, engaging, and incredibly visually appealing. It may just be a short vacation, but I’m glad that I at least got to go.

Reverie: Sweet As Edition may not be very original but its charming world and cute presentation is worth experiencing if you are a fan of the classic Legend of Zelda games it was inspired by. It won’t last you very long but I’m pretty sure by the end of it you’ll be happy you played it.

While Reverie: Sweet as Edition doesn’t reinvent the genre formula. The child-like innocence to its design is what sets it apart and makes it something well worth playing through if you’re looking for an adventure that won’t push you too much in terms of challenge. It feels like a title where the developers made the video game equivalent of you pretending to play Zelda as a child if you can get your head around that description. Unfortunately, it still doesn’t seem to get much exposure due to a small marketing budget, so hopefully, this review will at least make more people aware of its presence. If you’re looking for a great Summer holiday game with moderate challenge and a feel-good experience, then be sure to pick this one up on PC or any other available platform.

Tai's trusty cricket bat hits a respectable over in this short and sweet dungeon crawler that'll scratch that back-to-basics itch.

Reverie was a fun little Zelda-like. It took me a bit longer than I expected to get around to investing in it, but I’m glad I did. While it’s basic and the gameplay itself isn’t all that great, the presentation here is very nice, and it’s an excellent port, with in-game achievements, lots of collectibles, and a smooth experience all around.

Without being a revolution and taking clear references, Reverie Sweet As Edition proposes an adventure focused on action and puzzles along the six dungeons that we will find. A quite pleasant and entertaining game, which sins of having a reduced duration but that fulfills in all its aspects.

I did like the bosses for the way they used the game’s scope. The sprite work and attack patterns were impressive and even though they weren’t too all too challenging, I could really appreciate the care and effort that went into their design.
