Space Tail comes across as an forgettably mediocre game. While its art direction and strong story start seem to lead to a potential great adventure, the game mechanics you use are fundamentally broken or just boring. This makes the entire experience feel dragged out and not fun. It's a game that I played for this review and ultimately will never go back to. While it is by no means a bad game, Space Tail is a game I can't recommend for people. There are plenty of better games on Nintendo Switch for you to check out.

Space Tail: Every Journey Leads Home is a strong puzzle platformer. There's enough variety throughout to keep things fresh, and it uses the fact that its playable character is a dog effectively. When tied with a decent, emotional story, it's an overall success.

Yet, Space Tail: Every Journey Leads Home paints a fantasy of bravery, courage, and a deeper understanding of self-exploration, be that in outer space or within yourself. Other than that, for platformer enthusiasts, this game will not fail you, as it is pretty challenging with its puzzles and exploration features. For players that enjoyed the series of Ori, games like Limbo or similar titles, this might be for you as well.

Enjoy Studio and Red Deer Games pay homage to the stories of history's first animal astronauts with a colorful and sensitive action platformer, adding some interesting ideas. Despite what good it proposes, the title stumbles in an overall realization with several smears especially on the playful balance side of each of its parts. It deserves a chance, provided you put in a few too many edges.
