Super Woden GP

Super Woden GP is a fine little isometric racer with a lot of content and cars but the controls throw a bit of a kink in the engine.

Super Woden GP pretty much delivered everything I wanted from it. An addictive gameplay hook, fantastic track design, and a simple yet challenging-to-master handling system all contribute to a retro racing experience that delivers fun in spades, all while looking stunning in action. The difficulty wall that the early hours present may be off putting to some and it is undoubtedly frustrating early on, but those that battle through it will find one of the most charming and rewarding racing experiences that Nintendo’s hybrid has to offer.

Super Woden GP feels like the sort of racing game you’d play when you got home from school and stay glued to it until dinnertime, at which point your Mum would yell at you for not doing your homework. It rewards persistence and commitment — and both of those can sometimes feel like they’re in short supply these days.

Super Woden GP is a wonderful indie racing title. What's more, it captures the brilliance of 90s arcade games. I adored the aesthetics and the simple yet addictive gameplay.
