The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story is fairly straightforward, but it nails the feeling of playing as Sylas. The story goes to some interesting places and is accompanied by some great bosses and a momentous finale.
Read full review ↗A potent combat system and thrilling story are slightly held back by a slow start and rudimentary level design.
Read full review ↗A revolutionary tale told with memorable characters, excellent combat, and surprisingly forthright politics.
Read full review ↗There are a few typos in the game’s UI, like the status effect ‘inmune’, or receiving a blessing with an extra S. But despite a few small issues, I otherwise found this Riot Forge title to be another smooth ride through League’s increasingly complex canon. The Mageseeker makes the smart move of setting up some truly hateable villains, and then lets me smash their hopes and dreams — what more could I want from a game about toppling the elite?

Read full review ↗The Mageseeker is an enjoyable, expressive action RPG that stops just shy of outstaying its welcome.
Read full review ↗If you can get past the bugs and performance issues at launch, The Mageseeker proves itself to be yet another strong addition to Riot's growing catalogue of intriguing spin-off games. Sylas's bittersweet quest supplies a compelling story that nicely complements the fast-paced combat and magic-stealing action, providing fans with an enjoyable action experience that fans of 2D action games will want to take note of. We'd give The Mageseeker a high recommendation to anyone looking for another good retro hack 'n' slash for their collection-this one is deeper than it may appear on the surface, and it stands up well next to peers such as Unsighted or Hyper Light Drifter.
Read full review ↗Mageseeker's gorgeous pixel art aesthetic and exciting action combat, paired with interesting mechanics, make this a game that even non-League of Legends fans should check out.
Read full review ↗Mageseeker is a slog that even die-hard League of Legends fans will have trouble getting through.
Read full review ↗Mageseeker is perhaps my favorite thing to come out of Riot Forge publishing yet. Digital Sun has already proven that they have a good grasp of what makes an action-RPG fun, but they put their chops to great work here, bending a highly interesting corner of League of Legends lore to their style. Sylas fits them well, and they make his story sing in turn. Between compelling ability-stealing combat, chain-flinging traversal, an ever-expanding and upgradeable arsenal, and a beautiful musical score guiding another awesome visual and narrative interpretation of League of Legends, Mageseeker is an incredible time. Whether you’re a fan of League of Legends or not, this is a journey worth seeing through to the end.
