The Riftbreaker is an addictive, complex, and satisfying RTS/bullet hell hybrid, even while it suffers from some very noticeable performance issues.

The focus placed by The Riftbreaker's gameplay loop on resource management may be too monotonous for some players. It's a game that focuses on its base-building mechanics more than its Action RPG mechanics. Still, it's a decent mixture of both that can either be loved or hated by players.

Very unique mix of base-building strategy, survival and Action-RPG. But in later stage it is extremely hard.

The Riftbreaker is a great combination of real-time strategy, tower defence and bullet hell combat. Thanks to its hilarious RPG elements, large amount of equipment and extensive tech tree, it is a very sophisticated work. The Riftbreaker will clearly become a time guzzler as you will want more and more. The game also has very intuitive gameplay, great graphics, sound effects and soundtrack. Fans of Factorio, who missed the proper action in the aforementioned title, will also find satisfaction here.

‎In short, The Riftbreaker is a strategy and management title that also adds the action of taking a character in isometric view and that despite having some defects that have not convinced me, in general the game achieves as a result a very interesting proposal, in addition to telling us an interesting story and that gives us challenges, that although they are nothing of the other world, it is a pleasure to seek to solve them in order to advance in this adventure in Galatea 37, a planet that looks very good in the new generation of Xbox Series X / S, and that justifies the exclusivity of the new generation.‎

Despite my lack of experience with base building strategy games, I still thoroughly enjoyed my time with The Riftbreaker. The way it smartly balances out its story progression and combat made it more accessible to a player like me, while still offering plenty of challenge later on. While I do wish the act of balancing so many home bases and resources was easier, overall the blend of genre’s gave me shots of hectic fun with my growing pains of learning the best tricks. This will be a game I will continue to go back to.

Overall The Riftbreaker is a chaotic mess that spans several genres and comes out as perfect as Grandma’s Christmas Trifle. It doesn’t make sense at all but it comes together so nicely and seamlessly, it gives the user a completely unique and challenging experience. Whether you are into tower defence, RTS or even bullet hell or hack & slash, The Riftbreaker is going to give you one hell of a wild ride, and you better hang on for dear life.

The Riftbreaker successfully blends real-time strategy, tower defense and twin-stick action alongside a stunning and surprising visual compartment. A bit more could have been done to simplify the management of all the elements with a controller, but when it all works it can offer heart-pounding matches.

The Riftbreaker is a very ambitious game in all its aspects. It is focused on action but it is also a complete and addictive tower defense.
