Football, Tactics and Glory is an old-fashioned strategy game that's pulled me in, demanding that I keep playing and slogging towards in my quest to build a better team. It makes great use of turn-based battle grids to create a convincing simulation of soccer strategies.

FTG may be a bit rough to get into at first, but with a little dedication and the right type of niche desires this may be a little slice of heaven for you. If you aren't interested in the subject matter I'd suggest finding another tactical strategy game to enjoy.

At its core, this is a clever take on football with a genuinely entertaining turn-based system, and if you aren't careful you could spend countless hours working your way up the leagues. That said, its short matches always leave you wanting more (and not in a good way), and the completely random player names make it feel like you're paying a premium price for a clearly low budget title.

As the sum of its parts, Soccer, Tactics & Glory is pretty disappointing

My experience with Soccer, Tactics and Glory, is overall a positive one. Gamers looking for a fast-paced gameplay may want to look elsewhere. If you are looking for a mix of soccer fun with turn-based RPG elements, look no further. I was surprised at how well the two mixed together.

Football, Tactics & Glory is an atypical soccer game, more like a game of chess or XCOM than a simulator. A very original and very well executed idea weighed down by a manager mode that needs to improve many things to be satisfactory. Even so, highly recommended for lovers of turn-based strategy who will enjoy it as if it were a Wargame.

While the graphical presentation and sound design leaves a lot to be desired, the gameplay and match systems are unique and quite addictive. While I cannot see it knocking something like FIFA off the top of the football game tree, I can see it offering something light-hearted, different and fun for football and RPG fans alike.

Gameplay is simple enough to grasp yet deep enough to challenge you as you progress.

One of the most original sports games ever made but with so many flaws and limitations it makes you wish you could skip ahead several sequels and play that version instead.

Football, Tactics & Glory is a simple management sim with a unique footballing twist that doesn't quite work. It needs more depth and polish to really shine.
