Why play it

Engage your friends and family in frantic, couch multiplayer battles and co-op combat. As a member of The GUILT Patrol, you must battle the Dreadful Judge and his evil minions to bring peace back to the galaxy. In this frantic 2D couch combat game, you have one bullet to fire at your opponents. After firing your gun, you must “rebound” your bullet before firing again. This grin inducing mechanic introduces a new strategic element where thinking about where your bullet will land is as important as where you shoot!

Guilt Battle Arena is a lot of fun while it lasts with frantic, fast-paced action that forces players to act quickly in the heat of battle. Our main issue, however, is that everything that the game has to offer can be seen very quickly, and the desire to keep picking up the game, again and again, isn't as strong as we'd initially hoped. Fun in quick bursts, but lacking slightly in gameplay content, we'd urge you to place this one on your ‘maybe' list.

Overall, while Guilt’s appeal won’t be universal it at least makes a clear effort to quirk its way into your heart, rather than roll the dice and pray. The injection of humor and a dash of genuine creativity help it rise above some of the more average offerings out there but there’s no getting around the fact that there simply isn’t that massive an amount of content to play with in the end. While it has solo options this is another title that’s simply far better to play with some friends.

Even with these minor flaws, I do see Guilt Battle Arena as a fantastic game to pop in with your friends and to see who is the greatest hero in the universe.

Guilty Battle Arena is a title that loses the fight against other games within the same genre.

Guilt Battle Arena is an entertaining, fun filled bundle of joy. It is the perfect game when you have friends around and you want to prove once and for all who is the boss. I would’ve really liked to have had more solo options and for that reason I would say if you very rarely have friends around or you prefer to play games alone, then it may be wise to give this one a miss. However, if you’re a fan of the party game genre then you oughta give this a go. It will not disappoint.

A solid foundation that's fun to improve your skills at and is ideal to quickly load up for a couple of minutes at a time. With more content and shinier polish, this game might have been easier to justifiable at its current price

If you are interested in a lower budget multiplayer indie title, than Guilt Battle Arena may be for you.

As shallow as it is boring, Guilt Battle Arena is a conceptually fine attempt at a fast-paced party shooter that does very little with its mechanics and premise. Constantly being on-rails adds a layer of difficulty, but doesn't feel necessary to the core design of the game; the obstacles are charming enough, but the static layout of each stage keeps them relatively easy to avoid with some muscle memory; and the one-bullet mechanic, as interesting as it is, doesn't feel properly taken advantage of as its held back cramped layouts. Levels and matches are certainly fast-paced, but the core gameplay isn't addictive enough to warrant long play sessions. With some mechanical re-tweaking, varied stages, and an improved main mode that doesn't boil down to endless waves of shooting and dashing, Guilt Battle Arena could turn into something worth playing. As is, however, there's nothing particularly impressive about it.

There are restaurant meals out there that cost less, are more satisfying, and somehow last longer than Guilt Battle Arena. Stay far away.

All things considered, Guilt Battle Arena has a fun gameplay mechanic but doesn't execute itself properly as a full package.
