Why play it

Meet kitties as the main heroes of the new go-kart racing game! Overcome difficulties of the tracks drifting through mines and bombs, stop your competitors blasting them with bubble gum and other astonishing weapons. And don’t forget to gather power-ups to be the fastest on the track.

Story and worldbuilding

Meow Motors is a kart racer where cats rule the show. It's definitely a nice PC (and later xbox & ps) alternative to Mario Kart with vivid graphics, unique design style and cutest characters.

Meow Motors is a great karting game offering a lengthy campaign to race through and a nicely setup quick race option to supplement that.

If you’re a Switch owner who has played Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to death and you’re looking for a cheap change of pace- or if you’re a fan of supporting indie titles- you might consider Meow Motors. On the other hand, if you’re just out for a kart racer, you might be better shelling out the extra money for Nintendo’s game.

Meow Motors is a great racer if you’re looking for some good old arcade fun and aren’t looking to spend too much. It may not be purrfect, but you’re guaranteed to have a few hours of fun with it by yourself and it makes for a great local multiplayer experience to enjoy with your family and friends.

Meow Motor’s is wonderfully presented, colourful, vibrant and bright. The Character’s are wonderfully created, each with there own little personalities that will warm to the player’s heart. The Tracks are crafted excellently, designed to complement the gameplay, thus giving a real sense of speed and escape. The races themselves are what you’d expect from a kart racer, however there’s a lack of individuality about them, the word clone is used a lot in gaming, and unfortunately the race modes featured in the game lack adventure and in my view are to safe, offering nothing new in very populated genre.

Between May and July of this year, we played three kart racers: Team Sonic Racing, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, and Meow Motors. Though all three are enjoyable, perhaps surprisingly given each game's budget, we like Meow Motors the most. It doesn't try coloring outside the lines of the kart racer, but what it lacks in originality it earns back with the most accessible genre game of the summer.

Meow Motors has its issues, but overall, it gets away with it all. It's a bright, colourful, charming and cheap little kart racer that kids can enjoy, and people who never seem to tire of kart racers will have a compulsive need to buy and mess around with.
