Ultimate Racing 2D

Sadly a very mediocre racing game.

Ultimate Racing 2D comes very close to being a good racing simulator but is hindered by elements usually reserved for arcade racers. Blending the two styles together ultimately leads to an identity crisis for the game, and the resulting gameplay ends up being bland.

Ultimate Racing 2D is a simple game that gets the core features of the top-down racing genre just right.

It's just unfortunate that the racing genre is such a competitive one and, even on the Nintendo Switch, there is everything from Mario Kart, to rally racers, bike racers, and a half dozen existing top-down speedsters. It's just not enough to provide such a stock-standard racing game, however good the intentions.

As an old school arcade gamer I'm actually an enormous fan of the classic top-down racer...

Overhead racing fanatics will find a lot to love about Ultimate Racing 2D but don't expect anything revolutionary.

Listen, Applimazing wasn't trying to plant Ultimate Racing 2D in the racing world lexicon, but what it was trying to accomplish, it did so on many levels.
